DUTCH beer giant Heineken clearly thinks us English can’t hold our beer and has created the first ever beer insurance plan – dubbed ‘HeineCare’.
Spill, or have a pint knocked over, during any of England’s game’s during the Euros in selected boozers and HeineCare has you covered by way of a replacement pint.
Apparently a whopping 11milion pints are spilt every year at major sporting events according to 2021 data.
Heineken has also partnered with Amsterdam-based rainwear brand Rainkiss to create the “Pint-cho,” a lightweight, stylish, beer-resistant poncho designed to protect fans from spilled beer.
These ponchos will be distributed for free at participating pubs, and people can also win them through social media contests.
“Heineken is committed to showing that being a real fan is not about how you look – it’s about how you behave and express your love for football.” said marketing manager, Stephanie Dexter.
“But in the UK, we know expressing your love for football can be dangerous for beer.
“So, this summer, Heineken is committed to taking on the crucial job of protecting fans’ beer.”
Campaign creative office Noel Bunting added: “Beer insurance is exactly the thing every football supporter never knew they needed, until now.
“We wanted the creative to speak directly to fans who know first-hand how easy it is to spill your beer while enjoying the match and let them know, there’s no need to worry any more.”
Fortunately for England fans, there has been so little excitment so far this summer, none of them have even spilled a drop.
No doubt Scotland fans lost the odd splash on their rollercoaster ride after necking a million pints in just three days in Cologne, reports claim.
