HAVING trouble getting cabs when you roll out of a club at 4am with four wrecked mates? I’m afraid we can’t help.
Need an armoured taxi with an armed driver fresh out the Army? Step this way….
A new app which works just like Uber lets you order a fully-armed gun-toting driver for your next trip.
Black Wolf, which of course is based in America (specifically Atlanta), has been called a ‘necessary evil’ by its creator, a taxi for people ‘who want peace of mind from one destination to another’.
Instead of choosing between an UberX or an Uber XL, riders get to choose wether they want a bulletproof car and what weapon they want their driver to carry.
Founder Kerry King Brown a 32-year-old former bodyguard and private investigator, explained to Atlanta News first the premise behind the sharp-shooting business.

“Who are mostly on the news getting robbed, getting raped? The average person. What I’m creating is a necessary evil. It’s a necessity.”
He added: “We’re not here to fight anybody, we’re not here to draw guns. Even though it says armed, we’re trained not to do that.”
Mr Brown says his drivers are legally armed and highly trained, with many of them having experience in the military, police or the security industry and are specially trained to ‘de-escalate’ dangerous situations.
“I’m catering to the people who see this as a value, who want to take their life seriously,” added Brown.
The app which launched last month – offers three different services – Armed Executive Protection, Unarmed Executive Protection, and School Executive Protection. The last option is being promoted as a way to send children to school safely.
Riders pay an initial base rate of around £50 for a driver, who is packing heat, and then approximately a further £1.50 per mile for their journey.
Customers seem happy to pay the premium for the service with Jackelyn Eckles stating in Atlanta News first that she was extremely pleased after her Black Wolf driver accompanied her home from the airport.
“I think everyone deserves to feel safe,” she said. “I just feel like there’s been too many incidents on different platforms.”
As usual the internet has been polarised in opinion. One commentor on Reddit thought it was a great idea
“There are PLENTY of scared rich folks who think gang members or somebody will suddenly attack them. These are probably the same people who are very pro-gun as well, so imo [in my opinion] the premise makes sense.”
A woman on Instagram wasn’t so sure
“As a woman, the scariest part of an Uber/Lyft is the driver kidnapping or assaulting me. Them having a gun does not make me feel any safer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
So far the service is only available in Atlanta, USA, but more locations are planned to open up soon.
In the meantime, just concentrate on finding those cabs home at 4am on a Sunday morning.
