BUDGET retailer Aldi has launched a bargain basement beer pump that apparently turns any can of grog into the perfect pub pint.
The Specialbuy is expected to fly off the shelves and ‘uses innovative technology to serve home draught beer through a tap’ according to Aldi.
The Ambiano Beer Dispenser is a fraction of the cost of similar models available including the Fizzics DraftPour Beer Dispenser (£129) or the Draft Wizard Ultrasonic Frothing Beer Dispenser (£54.95)
All of these machines claim to improve the taste and aroma of canned beer. The Fizzics dispenser it is claimed will “transform any can or bottle of beer into a creamy nitro-style draft with the perfect head on top, enhancing the taste and aroma of your favourite beer”.
According to the blurb the machine uses sound waves and fluid dynamics to achieve the perfect pint.
“Once you’ve poured most of your beer, push the handle backward (away from you) to begin the ‘sonication process’, applying sound waves to convert the beer’s natural carbonation into a deliciously creamy micro-foam, giving your beer an aesthetically-pleasing head. These uniform, tiny-sized bubbles create the perfect density that delivers the enhanced aroma and flavour, making your favourite tipple taste better than ever.”
It has been met with pretty good reviews, scoring an average of 4.5 out of 5 on Google.
“A neat idea, looks good and a size that makes it easy to store. Good instructions, easy to use and clean. Puts an excellent head on your beer, but the head doesn’t last and goes quite flat too quickly. Such a good idea, a shame it doesn’t live up to expectations. Would have given 5 stars but for this.” said one on Lakeland’s site.
While another compared it to having a pub in your house
“A great ‘man toy’ to give you perfect draught pulled beer at home every time. Unlike other beer dispensers you are not limited to certain beers and can use all sorts of sizes too. In my opinion it does actually make the beer taste better and gives a lovely head on your glass. It is also good fun to use and can be taken and used anywhere. My new favourite toy!”
With the latest news that Brits are being routinely ripped off at the pub, a rapidly disappearing head could be a price worth paying.
