WONDERING what to buy for that classic car lover in your life who loves a bit of a ‘project’ this Christmas?
Wonder no more…
A mind-boggling collection of vintage motors has been unearthed on an abandoned UK farm and are set to be auctioned ‘without reserve’ to the highest bidder in a bonanza Christmas sale.
The haul of priceless classics is being dubbed ‘the ultimate barn find’ and has sent collectors into a spin with the chance to grab a bargain.
Auctioneers have warned though that buyers should be prepared to ‘get their hands dirty’ as many of the 20 care available will need extensive renovation,
The find uncovered some of the most sought after cars from both the UK and across the Pond, although the location of the farm and owner of the vehicles is not being disclosed by the auctioneers.
Alongside top marques from Jaguar, Lotus, Aston Martin, Porsche and Corvette also sits an incredible eight-wheeled amphibious ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) a 1980s Argocat.
The Argocat is built from polyethylene and was designed to shift heavy goods across boggy ground, in the snow or even up a mountain.
Sales manager at Classic Car Auctions Gary Dunne, said ahead of the December 9 auction: “This is an incredible collection of cars, plainly assembled by somebody who knew what they were picking.
“Whilst they may be in need of work, restoration or recommissioning, they all offer great merit in a classic car sale.
“Offered as they are at no reserve, we know that they will achieve plenty of attention and, as such, at sale, they will sell for whatever the market decides they are worth given their current condition.
“Some of these cars may need very little work to return to the road, others much more, but they will all be sold and we hope that they prove to be a part of a very successful sale.”
Included in the sale are a 1960 Cadillac, a 1969 Lotus Elan, a 1996 Aston Martin DB7 alongside two British rally classics Ford Escort RS Turbo.
The most valuable in the collection is believed to be the 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, brought over to the UK more than 20 years ago with a guide price of between ยฃ25,000 and ยฃ30,000.
A museum quality version of this motor could fetch up to ยฃ130,000 though so it could be a great investment.
To get your hands on any of the gems being dubbed the ‘Stoneacre Collection’ you can head over to the Classic Car Auctions site in time for their Christmas sale.
